Beauty is Where You Find It

Random wildflower photos from my travels this week:

Common Yarrow, Achillea millefolium, Cincinnati Nature Center

Moth Mullein, Verbascum blattaria, my yard. See the fuzzy stamens that resemble the antennae of a moth and give this plant its common name?

Black-eyed Susan Rudbeckia hirta, CNC. This is the host plant for Silvery Checkerspot caterpillars.

I think this wild rose, from Crooked Run, is Pasture Rose, Rosa carolina. Any botanists out there know this one and care to weigh in?

Golden Ragwort, Senecio aureus, CNC. This is a good one for your prairie, Susan.

I've seen that on walks. I may just have to try it in the prairie. It needs color.

I feel stupid. That mullein is growing in my yard, and it took me a week to figure out what it was, and it was sitting here on your blog!
