Scottish Skies

If it's bright blue skies and fluffy cumulus clouds you're looking for, then Scotland isn't your cup of tea. But, if you like moody, pensive, and brooding, there's nothing better than a fine, soft day in the Highlands.

There's nearly always a handy loch to reflect your sky.

Just when you are accustomed to grey, the sun peeks through and you get a hint of blue.

And rarely, a picture-postcard sky will surprise you.

Some of these are stunning portraits of a landscape I never got to see. They are beautiful and match the people of Scotland, very well. I used to correspond with the italic handwriting expert, Tom Gordie and another, George Tomson whose address was committed to memory.

Isn't that amazing what you can remember for no apparent reason. George is gone now but he was a midget with a mission and accomplished it.

My Sky Watch Friday blog is at my

blog. If you have time I would appreciate your having a look at the sky peeking through the oak tree leaves.

Wow! These could be paintings. A beautiful landscape, all of them.

Your sky is stunning - with fluffy clouds absent. Moody and pensive are great adjectives for your shots. Very nice.

Yes, moody and pensive. I'd love to be there, just to visit. Blue skies and puffy white clouds are monotonous.

Oooo. Makin' me miss Scotland.
We honeymooned there and I didn't want to leave.

I seem to recall the Moray of Firth as we left Inverness....screaming and trying not to die as we careened through the streets ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD in our rental car.

Hope the car company was able to lift the fingernail marks off the dashboard.
