OSU Football: Another great victory!

OSU 42, Michigan 7. Need I say more?

Sure I do.

OSU under Coach Tressel is 7-1 over Michigan.
OSU has beaten Michigan 5 years in a row, a record.
Michigan is 3-9 on the year - their worst season ever.

And, if Michigan State is able to beat Penn State today,

OSU will go to the Rose Bowl, the only bowl game that really matters.

Today is a great day.

OSU Football, Oct. 18

I'm not one to brag or gloat ("Since when?" my sister asks), but my OSU Buckeyes are kicking some Michigan State butt this afternoon. We're only in the first quarter, and we are already up 21-0. Now, that's what I'm talkin' about!

GO BUCKS!

******

Edit: And, OSU won, 45-7. The Pryor-Wells machine is practically flawless.

Next week, 7-1, 4-0 OSU plays 8-0, 4-0 Penn State (who handed Michigan their hat yesterday, thankyouverymuch) at 7pm, in a battle for the lead in the Big Ten(11) conference. Wonder if I can talk the Flock into eating at a sports bar Saturday night, so I can see the game?

Hey, ladies: "Are you ready for some FOOTball?"

My Two Favorite Teams

are OHIO STATE and Whoever is Playing Michigan.

That's especially true when the team is one who beats the Wolverines 45-20. Thanks, Illinois, for handing Michigan their third defeat of the season, making their 2-3 start the worst since 1967, when they started 1-4.

Way to go, Bucks, for pulling it out at the end of last night's game. 20-17 over Wisconsin makes us 4-1 on the year, with our only loss to the (then) number one team in the country, USC. With Southern Cal's defeat last week, we still have a shot at the big time.

GO BUCKS!

Fall is Football Season!

If you didn't know by now, there is only one sport that matters in KatDoc's World, and that's football. Specifically, college football. Even more specifically, Big Ten college football.

Oh, hell, let's face it. The only sport that matters in life is OSU Buckeyes football.

So, every Saturday from now until my beloved team wins the National Championship, readers of this blog will be forced to hear me rave about OSU. If this offends you, you are excused.

Go Bucks!

The Ohio State Buckeyes are ready to trounce the Michigan Wolverines! Are you ready for some football?

Even the red maple in my front yard has finally turned scarlet, just in time for the Big Game.

Don't call me between noon and 4pm, as I probably won't answer.

Updates at the end of each quarter.

Toxicology Tuesday, November 13

During Michigan week, you just know we have to talk about BUCKEYES. We already know they are the greatest college football team in the world, but are they

Toxic or Not?

Answer: Toxic

Most cases of buckeye poisoning involve livestock, including cattle, sheep, pigs and horses, which graze on the young sprouts and leaves of the trees when other forage is scarce. Not every animal which eats the plants shows signs of poisoning, however. The buckeye seed or “nut” is toxic as well, although not to squirrels, which will eat them when more favored foods are not available.

The toxic element is called aesculin, and poisoning affects the nervous system. Incoordination and staggering, weakness and trembling, dilated pupils, depression or hyperexcitability, coma and death may all result from buckeye poisoning. GI signs are also common: dogs may have severe gastroenteritis (vomiting and diarrhea), while horses exhibit colic.

There is no specific antidote. Like many poisoning cases, treatment is limited to decontamination and supportive care.

A fact that is well-known to Ohio State fans was not documented in any of the literature I read. Ohio Buckeyes, while toxic to many species, are, without a doubt, absolutely FATAL to Michigan Wolverines!

Michigan Week: 5 days till D-Day

It is the most important week of the year, the week leading up to the most important football game of the season. You can keep your college bowl games and professional play-off games and even the Super Bowl. For me, the Most Important Game of the Year occurs on the third Saturday of November... THE Ohio State University Buckeyes versus the axis of evil, the Michigan Wolverines. So, bear with me this week, it is going to get ugly.

GO BUCKS!

"There is no joy in Muddville ..."

... the Mighty Buckeyes have struck out.

OK, so I'm mixing my sports metaphors, but I'm really bummed. After a 10-0 season, leading in the Big Ten and Number One in the BCS standings for weeks, my beloved OSU Buckeyes were defeated at home today, 28-21, by unranked Illinois.

Heavy sigh.

The only bright spot on the day? That Team Up North also lost, 37-21 to Wisconsin. Go Badgers! You are my second favorite team this week. Thanks for whipping up on the Wolverines for me.

Now it comes down to the last game of the season, as it does so many years. Next week, winner takes all the marbles. November 17, in Ann Arbor, the Buckeyes shall be victorious.

Look out, Michigan State! The BUCKEYES are a'comin'!!!!
