Pretty as a Pitcher

And now, a cleansing pottery post, to clear my head after that last rant.

I have become obsessed with making pitchers lately. I think I have the shape down, but I'm still struggling with handles. Here are three pitchers in my series of five recent creations.

Texture kiwi fruit, on white clay
This pitcher holds 1 qt.

Goldenrod shino on brown clay
This type of pitcher has a cut spout.

Forest satin, overdipped in clear glaze, on brown clay

Nice, nice, nice! You're really getting consistent results these days! (and I like the forest satin better un-shiny... but I know, "you're in production, not design!") The cut spout is SWEET!

Kathi, you're getting really good! I like the goldenrod pitcher the best but you definitely can be proud of all of them.

Katdoc, who knew you threw pots! Oh my! These are wonderful! Clay always gives me fits and drives me to tears!

Thanks for all the compliments! I feel like I am starting to get the idea with this hobby, but I have a long, long way to go and a lot more to learn before I call myself a potter.

Kathie: If you are interested in seeing Black Kat Pottery from the beginning, you can click on the "Pottery" label in the right hand column and see some past work.

I'm taking a week-long pottery workshop in NC in June; hope to really take a big leap forward after 6 full days of study.
