Random Bird Photos

For a blog pretending to be at least partly about birds and birding, I put up remarkably few bird photos. That's because I'm super-critical of my pictures and since I don't have the best equipment (yet), I don't get a lot of keepers. Here are a few I am proud of:

American Goldfinch

Northern Cardinal

Gray Catbird

Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Red-bellied Woodpecker (female)

Yeah--I'd be proud of those, too!

I loves me a catbird. :)

The catbird one is especially cool...shows the true catbird attitude.
Those are good, Kath!

Love the birds - and the winery pics! I'm building a life list slowly - started with a pileated woodpecker, of all things! (picture proof is buried somewhere in my photo archives.)
And yes, I did get to reading your older posts - I know EXACTLY where my beanie is, but sadly I don't have any 'Berg shirts left, unless you count a few purple EUG shirts that are pretty well trashed, but I'm too sentimental to toss 'em.
Wonder what the official Heidelberg bird is? Probably a nuthatch. . . .

Well, you may be self-critical, but these photos are winners!

Why so critical? Those photos are great. And true, everyone here is reading this because of..well...YOU, not to be critical of your photography. You have yet to post a photo of anything that I thought was A) Uninteresting and B) Bad. So post those pics!

PS. My hummingbirds are back! I finally got my red petunias planted around my porch. I like the purple ones but do few/purple, lots/red because the h-birds will come right up to the porch if the red ones are there. I'm late getting the hangers up but it took them only a day to find them again. I do petunias in all the hangers just for them every year.

Glad to see you are still lurking in the background. Didn't know you were into birding. A Pileated Woodpecker is a great bird to be your "spark bird" (the one that gets you started into birding.)

The official 'Berg bird must be one like the White-eyed Vireo, who says "Pick up the beer check" or the Olive-sided Flycatcher, who says "Quick, three beers!" Or maybe it is a mix of the Acadian Flycatcher ("Pizza!") and the Alder Flycatcher ("Free beer.")

Sensing a theme here?

Thanks to all for the kind words about my pics. Susan, that Catbird was at Miami Whitewater on July 4th. He sat in the tree saying, "Where is Susan? I thought SHE was coming to see me."

Holly:

You didn't see the 1000 pictures I threw out to get 5 worth posting, but it's nice to hear my photos are appreciated. Aw, you're sweet for saying that people are here for me, not the pictures. Glad to hear your hummers are back. Mine had gone for about 2 weeks, but are now out of control. I fill up 5 feeders at least 3 times a week, maybe more.
