Celebrating the Fourth of July
On my bird walks today, I saw plenty of red and blue birds (Northern Cardinals, Indigo Buntings, Blue Grosbeak) but no white birds. So instead, here are today's color-appropriate wildflowers: Red:
Trumpet Creeper
White:
Queen Anne's Lace
& Blue:
Chicory
Happy Independence Day!

Beautiful - especially that chickory. The petals look like they are paper thin - like you could almost see behind them. I hope you have had a good 4th of July so far.
My favorite's chicory, too. Dainty little saw-toothed edges....so sweet, but tough enough to brave every roadside.

Looks like you and I had the same idea for posts today!
BTW: Glad you had a good day of birding. I wish I was well enough to have gone. Oh, well. Someday, I will rise to bird again!
Chicory really is underrated. Dusty and tattered, along every roadway, everyone ignores it. But when you stop to look closely at the flowers they really are lovely. Look at those delicate little anthers - like tiny moth antennae.
Thanks for looking,

Happy July 4th, Katdoc! I'm partial to blue flowers. Thanks for the Chicory.
