Skywatching my way back home

Heading westbound and on our way home. Was this the turnpike, or I-70? Were we in PA or eastern Ohio? No matter, we were coming back from Cape May when Susan and I saw this gorgeous sky. Was it just two and a half weeks ago? Seems like a lifetime.

Very cool shot! Is that the tint of the windshield coloring the upper portion of the photo?

Beautiful - the top of your picture had me wondering - till I realized you were in a car. Lovely capture.

Going for a drive for whatever reason is a welcome thing for me because all I do is watch out for beautiful skies so I can get something for my sky watch entries :)

Lovely capture.

KatDoc: What a great sky you have captured. I get a lot of shots in this area.

You were definetinetly in Ohio just coming from the Youngstown area. I drive it every Friday. the divider is a dead giveaway.

You took this shot thru the windshield? It looks better than I would have expected thru the windshield - the blue is the tint at the top of glass I'm guessing? Very cool shot!!!

Mike, Ms Hays and all:

Yes, the blue at the top of the photo is the tint from the windshield. I hadn't intended to include it in the picture and almost edited it out. The more I looked at it, the more I liked the effect, so I left it in.

Fishing Guy:

We were actually somewhat south of Youngstown. We took the PA Turnpike (I76/70) west, exiting the pike at New Stanton. We then followed I-70 south of Pittsburgh through W.Va, looped south of Wheeling, WVa/Bridgeport, OH on the I-470 by-pass, and continued on I-70 till Columbus, OH.

I'm not sure exactly where we were when I took that picture. We were just anxious to get home at that point!

Thanks, all, for the comments on this week's Skywatch!

It looks like rain at any minute! And a long road home. Glad you made it safely and that you had so much fun!

We always comment to eachother when driving, that those wide open spaces provide the most dramatic skies.
The drive from Cincinnati to Columbus never disappoints!
I wonder why.
Air currents different?

Good shot, Kathi! I think that was in PA...or maybe we were already in OH...crap, I can't remember. It was a thousand years ago.

I miss Cape May, too. What a wonderful trip this year. Great pix of the sky - hope your trip home was otherwise uneventful (although with Susan in the car, probably not!)
